Three Steps to Register
1. Confirm your work falls under the literary category.

2. Complete the appropriate application form such as the Standard Form TX or Short Form TX. (Use the Short Form if you are the only author of the work, the work is not made for hire, and the work does not contain a lot of already published information.)

To obtain these forms, go to:
http://www.copyright.gov/register/literary.html

3. Send the application, a $30 check addressed to "Register of Copyrights," and copies of the materials to be copyrighted to:

Library of Congress
Copyright Office
101 Independence Avenue, S.E.
Washington, D.C. 20559-6000

After receiving your application, if everything is in order, you will receive a certificate in four to five months.
